Open Question: What happens if I don't give the hospital my insurance number?
So a few days ago I got into a car accident, a very minor fender bender. I was the passenger and my pal was driving and the accident wasn't his fault, it was the other driver's. Since I'm not over the age of 18 and my parents weren't there to sign me off as okay at the scene of the accident I had to go to the emergency room even though I was completely fine. I know it's really expensive and everything and when they were getting my information they got my number and address but not my insurance information. But seeing as I will never go to that hospital again AND I shouldn't have to pay for something like this I (and my mom) feel no desire to give them my insurance info just so they can charge my insurance. And seeing as the accident wasn't my fault at every, and I was in perfect health, and was seriously dragged to the ER, I'm wondering 1. if my family (or the insurance company) would have to pay for the ER trip. and 2. if i don't give them my insurance number, what would happen?
